A professional boxer’s experience with Mita Nutra Man Greens

I cover my experiences with Mita Nutra’s Man Greens, while also breaking down the science behind their ingredients.

Writer, retired boxer, self-improvement enthusiast

I’m 40 years old, and nearly 8 years have passed since my last professional fight. After that bout ended in a draw, I spent the next few years going back and forth on whether I’d ever step into the ring again. But after doing a training camp with Roy Jones Jr. to help him prepare for his fight against Mike Tyson, I finally made up my mind: I would never fight professionally again.

Or so I thought.

After I got my book deal, I dove into the strategies behind successful books like David Goggins’ Can’t Hurt Me. One thing became clear: the best way to make my book a success was to fight again.

It’s exciting—but at 40 years old, I need to be in the best shape possible. I need to be better than optimal, because now I’m battling time as well as another man. And most of those men will be younger, stronger, and in their athletic primes. On top of that, because I’m competing in a sport governed by the World Anti-Doping Agency, I can’t take any of the usual anti-aging treatments like TRT, anabolic steroids, or peptide hormones.

Confronting the reality of my age, I knew I needed something to keep me in the game—not just to get an edge. I went looking for a way to naturally raise my testosterone, improve my recovery, and make my body the best version it could be at 40.

That’s when I found Mita Nutra’s Man Greens.

Sponsorship disclaimer

I have to make sure that I keep it real with you. Mita Nutra is a sponsor of my training, but I only choose to work with sponsors who have products I believe in. I’ve was using Man Greens—along with Mita Nutra’s other products—before we worked together. Since fighting is a tough game with little financial support, I decided to reach out to them and see if they’d sponsor me.

They agreed, so what better way to show my appreciation than to write a review. I don’t receive any compensation if you purchase through my link, but if you decide to purchase, buying through my link let’s them know that my efforts are paying off. I appreciate you!

What are Man Greens?

Man Greens isn’t just another supplement with flashy promises and underdosed ingredients. It’s a serious tool for men who need to perform—physically, mentally, and hormonally—especially when age and time aren’t on your side.

At 40 years old, preparing for a boxing comeback without the help of TRT, steroids, or peptide hormones, I needed something that could help me optimize my testosterone levels naturally—without violating anti-doping regulations or wrecking my body with side effects. That’s why I turned to Mita Nutra’s Man Greens.

This isn’t about “bro science” or placebo powders. Man Greens was formulated with research-backed, clinically dosed ingredients that help your body:

  • Boost natural testosterone production
  • Lower excess estrogen
  • Combat oxidative stress
  • Support libido and sexual health
  • Improve energy, strength, and recovery

Man Greens became a staple of daily training shake, which also includes Mita Drive, Mita Power, and Naked Whey Protein. This combination of supplements let me hit harder, faster, and recovery more easily. I feel like I’m fighting against time with something in my corner that’s actually legal, safe, and effective.

What impressed me most was the ingredient transparency. No proprietary blends hiding dosages. No artificial sweeteners or fillers. Just pure, organic ingredients—especially adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha (for stress and cortisol regulation), tongkat ali (for testosterone support), and maca root (for endurance and sexual health).

If you’re a man in your 30s, 40s, or beyond trying to stay sharp, strong, and competitive—especially without the crutch of banned substances—Man Greens might be exactly what you’re missing. Let’s break down exactly what’s in there and the science behind each ingredient.

Man Greens Quality Control

Before we cover the ingredients, let’s talk about quality and compliance. If you aren’t planning on competing in sports, this isn’t a big deal for you. But for any competitive athletes competing in any sport that is governed by WADA, this is huge.

Man Greens is made in a cGMP-certified facility, which means it follows Current Good Manufacturing Practices enforced by the FDA. These are strict standards that regulate everything from cleanliness and ingredient handling to packaging and quality control. Basically, it ensures the product is made in a clean, controlled environment and that what’s on the label is actually what you’re getting.

It’s also NSF certified, which adds another layer of third-party testing and verification. That means the product has been independently tested to confirm it’s free from harmful levels of contaminants like heavy metals or bacteria, and that the ingredient list is accurate.

For athletes, this helps eliminate the risk of accidentally ingesting something that could get flagged in a drug test. While this specific version of NSF doesn’t certify for sport, the presence of both cGMP and NSF logos tells you the product is held to a higher standard than most supplements on the market.

Organic KSM-66 Ashwaganda (400mg)

Ashwaganda plant

{: width=”1200” height=”1200”}Organic KSM-66 Ashwagandha is a standardized, full-spectrum extract of the Withania somnifera root, clinically studied and specifically developed to retain the natural balance of the root’s bioactive compounds. Now, a lot of you are going to be familiar with ashwagandha and how it helps to manage cortisol, which indirectly helps to support testosterone. Before you run out to grab some generic ashwagandha from the Vitamin Shoppe, I need to explain why Organic KSM-66 is different.

What sets KSM-66 apart is how it’s made and what it contains. It’s a root-only extract, which is important because the root has a more balanced profile of active compounds compared to the leaves, which can sometimes interfere with hormone regulation. It’s standardized to contain 5% withanolides—these are the key bioactive compounds in ashwagandha responsible for its adaptogenic effects, like lowering stress and supporting hormonal balance.

The extract is produced through a unique process that took 66 iterations to perfect, using a traditional method involving milk to help preserve the natural ratios of the root’s compounds. This approach keeps the extract close to how ashwagandha has been used in Ayurveda for centuries, but with the added benefit of modern standardization and consistency.

The research is crystal clear about the benefits of KSM-66 ashwagandha when it comes to testosterone boosting capabilities. What makes this extract especially useful is how well it’s been studied.

In one clinical trial with overweight men between 40 and 70 years old, researchers found that taking KSM-66 led to a 17% increase in testosterone, along with a 35% bump in luteinizing hormone (LH)—which is a signal from your brain that tells your body to make more testosterone. The same study also showed a nearly 28% drop in cortisol, which matters because high cortisol can kill testosterone levels over time (Source).

Another study looked at younger guys who were resistance training. They took 600 mg of KSM-66 daily for 8 weeks and saw significantly better gains in strength and muscle size—especially in the arms and chest—compared to the placebo group. They also recovered faster, with less muscle damage after workouts (Source).

KSM-66 Ashwaganda, by itself, would justify adding Man Greens to your training stack, but they’ve stacked the deck with even more powerful ingredients to optimize your training.

Organic Tongkat Ali (200mg)

Tongkat Ali
Tongkat Ali in the wild

Let’s talk about Organic Tongkat Ali, another key ingredient in Man Greens that plays a role in supporting testosterone and boosting training performance.

Tongkat Ali—also known as Eurycoma longifolia or “Malaysian ginseng”—has been used for centuries in Southeast Asia as a traditional remedy for enhancing male vitality. What’s interesting from a performance and hormone standpoint is that modern research backs up a lot of these traditional uses, especially when it comes to testosterone and physical endurance.

A 2022 meta-analysis published in the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine reviewed 10 randomized controlled trials and found that Tongkat Ali supplementation was associated with a significant increase in total testosterone levels, especially in men with low baseline levels or late-onset hypogonadism. The researchers concluded that Tongkat Ali could be an effective natural aid for improving testosterone status, particularly in men dealing with age-related declines or high stress.

The mechanism seems to involve reducing cortisol, lowering sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and potentially stimulating the body’s own production of testosterone through the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. This creates a hormonal environment that not only supports strength and muscle development but also improves energy, mood, and sexual health.

Man Greens uses an organic form of Tongkat Ali, which ensures you’re getting a clean, pesticide-free source. And while doses vary across studies, the amount in Man Greens is aligned with what’s been shown to support testosterone health over time—making it a smart addition for anyone trying to optimize hormones naturally.

Organic Maca Root (1.5g)

Maca Root
Maca Root in the wild

{: width=”750” height=”500”}Maca root is interesting because studies have shown that while it improves sexual and athletic performance, it doesn’t affect testosterone. Yes, you can take Man Greens if you’re worried about your libido, but this article is covering the athletic benefits you pick up from Man Greens. I did some digging into the research around maca root, and it turns out that it’s one of those supplements that will not only benefit fighters, but all athletes.

A 2023 review in the journal Nutrients pulled together the current science on maca and athletic performance, and the findings were pretty solid. Maca appears to improve endurance, support energy metabolism, and help the body recover faster after intense physical activity—all without affecting testosterone levels.

For example, one study found that trained male cyclists who took 2 grams of maca extract daily for two weeks performed better on a 40 km time trial compared to a placebo group. In animal studies, maca also increased time to exhaustion in swimming tests, suggesting it helps delay fatigue. Researchers think this has to do with maca’s impact on mitochondrial function and antioxidant defenses, which help your body manage stress and use oxygen more efficiently during exercise.

It’s also worth noting that maca contains unique compounds like macamides and polysaccharides, which seem to support glucose metabolism and ATP production—the core processes behind muscular energy. On top of that, maca helps reduce oxidative stress and muscle inflammation, which can speed up recovery and reduce soreness after training.

While maca might not mess with your hormone levels, it does seem to help your body adapt to physical stress better. That means more energy during workouts, better endurance, and less downtime recovering—which makes it a valuable tool whether you’re in the ring, on the field, or just trying to train harder and smarter.

Organic Forskohlii (250 mg)

Forskohlii

Another ingredient in Man Greens that deserves attention is Organic Forskolhii (250 mg), a plant extract from Coleus forskohlii. While not as well-known as ashwagandha or tongkat ali, forskohlii works through a different pathway that still supports your athletic goals—particularly when it comes to body composition, metabolism, and hormonal health.

The active compound in forskohlii is called forskolin, and it works by increasing levels of cyclic AMP (cAMP) in your cells. cAMP is kind of like a cellular “amplifier”—it boosts the signal for a variety of biological processes, including fat breakdown, energy metabolism, and testosterone production.

One study published in Obesity Research looked at what happened when overweight men took 250 mg of Coleus forskohlii extract twice a day (standardized to 10% forskolin) for 12 weeks. Compared to the placebo group, the men taking forskohlii saw a significant drop in body fat percentage, a preservation of lean muscle mass, and a notable increase in free testosterone levels.

Another area this forskohlii makes a difference is if you’re simply trying to lose body fat, which incidentally increases performance and testosterone.

A 2015 study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition looked at how Coleus forskohlii extract affected women who were classified as overweight but otherwise healthy. Over 12 weeks, participants took 250 mg of Coleus forskohlii extract twice daily, the same dosage used in the men’s study. While there was no significant change in overall weight, the women in the forskohlii group experienced a significant reduction in body fat percentage compared to the placebo group. There were also improvements in satiety and reduced fatigue, which can be game-changers when you’re training hard or cutting calories.

What’s important here is that even without massive weight loss, forskohlii appears to help your body repartition mass—supporting lean muscle while helping shed fat. This makes it especially useful if you’re training for performance but still want to tighten up your body composition without wrecking your energy levels or hormone balance.

Organic White Button Mushroom (1g)

White button mushrooms
White button mushrooms

White button mushrooms may seem like a basic ingredient, but they offer a powerful edge when it comes to optimizing testosterone and performance—mainly by acting as a natural aromatase inhibitor.

Aromatase is the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into estrogen. While some estrogen is necessary, too much can interfere with muscle growth, lower free testosterone levels, increase fat retention (especially in the chest and waist), and impact recovery. By blocking this conversion, white button mushrooms help preserve more of your natural testosterone, giving your body a hormonal profile that’s more favorable for strength, lean mass, and energy.

Research has shown that compounds in white button mushrooms can significantly inhibit aromatase activity and reduce estrogen production. While much of this research has been focused on hormone-sensitive cancer prevention, the implications for athletes are clear: less estrogen conversion means more available testosterone, naturally.

It’s also worth noting that many synthetic aromatase inhibitors—like those used in bodybuilding or testosterone therapy—are banned by WADA due to their performance-enhancing effects. White button mushrooms offer a legal, food-based alternative that supports the same goal: keeping your testosterone working for you, not against you. That makes the 1g of organic white button mushroom in Man Greens a subtle but strategic addition to the formula.

Organic Beet Root (1g)

Beet Root
Beet root

Beet root won’t improve your hormonal profile—but it will make you a better athlete. And if you’re a guy dealing with erectile issues, it might be a quiet game-changer.

Beet root is rich in dietary nitrates, which your body converts into nitric oxide (NO)—a compound that relaxes and dilates blood vessels, improving blood flow and oxygen delivery throughout the body. That has major implications for both exercise performance and vascular health. In the context of training, this means more efficient oxygen use, better endurance, and quicker recovery. In the context of sexual health, it means better blood flow where it counts.

A 2017 systematic review published in Nutrients looked at the effects of dietary nitrate supplementation from beetroot juice on cardiovascular and exercise performance. The review found that nitrate-rich beetroot consistently improved endurance performance in healthy individuals, especially during submaximal exercise—the kind of sustained output you rely on in combat sports, distance running, or high-rep strength training. The improved nitric oxide production reduced the oxygen cost of exercise, meaning you could perform the same amount of work while using less energy.

It also noted potential benefits for blood pressure regulation, which speaks to the broader cardiovascular support beetroot provides. For men experiencing erectile dysfunction, this vasodilatory effect can mirror how drugs like Viagra work—just without the pharmaceutical angle.

So while beet root isn’t boosting testosterone like some of the other ingredients in Man Greens, the 1g of organic beet root plays a key supporting role: helping you train longer, recover faster, and improve blood flow throughout the body. It’s performance enhancement without the stimulants—and with real benefits you’ll feel.

Spirulina (5g) and Moringa (1g)

Spirulina
Spirulina

To round out the formula, Spirulina (5g) and Moringa (1g) provide a foundation of support that’s less about directly boosting hormones and more about keeping your overall system running efficiently. Spirulina is a nutrient-dense blue-green algae that offers complete protein, B vitamins, iron, chlorophyll, and a powerful mix of antioxidants. It’s been shown to reduce oxidative stress, support immune function, and help regulate blood lipids and glucose levels. For athletes or anyone training consistently, that means faster recovery, less inflammation, and a stronger immune response—critical if you’re trying to stay consistent and avoid burnout.

Moringa complements this by acting as a nutrient powerhouse loaded with vitamins A, C, and E, as well as calcium, magnesium, and plant-based polyphenols. While it’s not classified as an adaptogen, it behaves like one by supporting systemic balance, especially when it comes to inflammation, blood sugar control, and oxidative stress.

Together, spirulina and moringa don’t directly increase testosterone or muscle mass, but they enhance the internal environment that allows those things to happen more effectively. In short, they make your body more resilient, more efficient, and better equipped to handle the demands of hard training and recovery.

My experiences with Man Greens

Ed Latimore Man Greens<figcaption>Ed Latimore Man Greens</figcaption>

I hesitate to call this supplement a game changer because I’m normally extremely dialed in. With that said, I definitely have greater stamina. I can see this both in my road work and sparring rounds at the gym.

What I like best about Man Greens is that it tastes pretty good. I’ve never been someone to complain about the taste of a supplement if it’s something that I need to take to get an edge, it’s always nice when it tastes great. Before Man Greens, I believed that all green powders had to taste like grass. Man Greens seems to have figured out a way to flavor theirs ever so slightly. My bag is “orange” flavored.

I’m currently waiting to see how it’s improved my testosterone as well. I’ll update this section when I get my results back.

The only real negative about Man Greens is that, at $79.95 per bag, some will find it a little out of their price range. While that might be a little off putting, you have to remember that you’re paying for key ingredients and Mita Nutra has gone through the trouble getting both the cGMP and NSF certifications, which aren’t cheap but ensures that you’re getting exactly what you pay for.

With that said, it’s a 30 day supply and you should start to feel the results relatively quickly. And if you don’t, every product from Mita Nutrition comes with a 60 day, 100% money-back guarantee.

If this review helped you decide to purchase Man Greens, definitely click on the link below. I don’t get any from you buying through the link. Just showing love to a sponsor whose product is helping me to perform in the ring as I attempt this boxing comeback.
